PADI Rescue Diver Course

Overview

The Rescue Diver course transforms your mindset underwater. You'll learn how to prevent and manage problems, assist other divers, and stay calm in challenging situations, all while training through realistic, scenario-based exercises in the water.

Description

Ask any experienced diver which course changed them the most, and the answer is almost always the same: Rescue Diver. It's the course that shifts your awareness from yourself to everyone around you, and it's the one that makes you a diver other divers want in the water with them. The PADI Rescue Diver course is challenging, rewarding, and genuinely fun. It's built around realistic scenario-based training, so you're not just learning techniques, you're practicing them in conditions that mirror real emergencies. By the time you complete the course, you'll have the skills, the judgment, and the composure to handle problems before they escalate, and to manage them effectively when they do. The course begins with knowledge development, covering self-rescue, stress recognition in divers, and the principles of emergency management. You'll learn to read the signs of a diver in distress before they become a diver in danger, and you'll understand how to stay calm and in control when the situation around you isn't. From there, you move into water-based training. You'll start by refreshing your core diving skills and practicing tired and panicked diver tows. Then you'll progress through ten rescue exercises, starting in confined water and moving into open water as your confidence and competence build. These exercises cover everything from approaching a panicked diver on the surface to surfacing and managing an unresponsive diver underwater, performing in-water rescue breathing, and coordinating a full emergency response. The final phase is open water rescue scenarios, where everything comes together. You'll manage simulated emergencies from start to finish, making decisions, coordinating responses, and demonstrating that you can handle real situations with real pressure. Dahab's calm, clear waters make it an ideal environment for this training. With a maximum of 6 students per course and flexible scheduling across 2 to 3 sessions per day, the course is intensive but never overwhelming. Your instructor guides you through every exercise with the focus and feedback you need to genuinely improve. The Rescue Diver certification is also your gateway to the professional level of diving. It's a mandatory prerequisite for the PADI Divemaster course, and it's the foundation that every great dive professional is built on.
