Itinerary
1 - Welcome, Registration and Medical Screening
0.5 h
You are met at the dive center, complete your registration, and fill in the standard diver medical questionnaire. Your instructor reviews it with you and answers any questions before you go near the water. If you have already arranged physician clearance, this is where you hand it over.
2 - Safety Briefing and Equipment Fitting
0.5 h
Your PADI professional explains how scuba equipment works, the basic safety rules of diving, how to equalise your ears as you descend, and the hand signals divers use to communicate underwater. You are then fitted with a mask, fins, wetsuit and scuba unit sized to you. Nothing is memorised or tested.
3 - Shallow Water Skills Session
0.5 h
In calm, shallow water you take your first breaths underwater and practise three essential skills: breathing comfortably through the regulator, clearing water from your mask, and recovering the regulator if it leaves your mouth. Each skill is taught individually and repeated until you feel settled. This part is unhurried and there is no pass or fail.
4 - Guided Reef Dive
1 h
Once you are comfortable, your instructor guides you along the reef to see the marine life of the Red Sea. You stay with your instructor for the entire dive. The maximum depth is 12 metres, though you descend only as far as you feel comfortable, and many first time divers stay considerably shallower.
5 - Surface Interval and Debrief
0.5 h
Back on shore you return your equipment and talk through the dive with your instructor. This is a good moment to ask questions about what you saw and about continuing on to the PADI Open Water Diver course, since the skills you completed today may credit toward its first confined water session.
